Manfrotto 410 head - how firm does it all have to be?

I've had mine for a few months and treated it pretty well. The only potential abuse could have been at the airport by cargo staff, but I doubt it

I recently noticed that mine has some movement / play so it is not as stable as it could be. Is this normal, or are they supposed to be dead firm?

It is still in warranty so I could take it in for repair. How long would it take?

If still in warranty - take it for repair - there appears to be three nuts that work loose from a quick google search. It shows how to get at them - but I'd only do what they suggest if out of warranty.. In warranty - I'd get it done professionally

As above, once nipped up mines rock solid.

By nipped up - I think he means turn the gear release knobs the opposite direction.
Instead of releasing the gears, they lock the movement.

And yes - the 410 should be solid.

Drop them an email, if its in warranty they will sort it no bother
