Manfrotto 496RC2 ballhead advice needed

I feel a right plonker i have just bought one of these and i can't move the ballhead read the instructions but can't fathom it, anybody got one am i missing something is it faulty

got the friction knob very tight? If you have it over tightened it'll hold the ball head in place (but not securely)

Hi that was quick i can't turn the friction knob it was that tight when i took it out of the box should it be slack then ?

That'll be your problem then.

If you can't get that knob to loosen up you'll have to return it I'm afraid.
