Simple question, is this the best monopod under £50 when considering weight, stiffness, useability etc? Had a look at a few in a shop today and having trouble making up my mind.

Also, any thoughts on the 234 head that comes with it, any good?

Many thanks in advance.

Manfrotto are or were doing a deal on their monopods... If you buy one then you got a 234 head free...

I got the Manfrotto 680B (compact when closed) does the job I wanted it to do - but I got the 234RC QR head instead.. Then I got the MN679 legs that attach to the bottom for stability...

Ian, did you give both heads a go? I was considering a 494RC head but thought i'd give the 234 a go first (seeing as it comes free).

You can get the manfrotto 680B with a free 234RC QR a few and far between though but they are about with some sellers....

I did a search on here yesterday and as a result ordered up the 681B from WE.
I think it was Flash in the Pan (appologies if I got that wrong) who made the point that having 3 sections made it more stable than 4 section models.
