OK, OK, I know this is not to everybody's taste, but it will suit my M4/3 Olympus.

What I want to do is use my own ball head but I can't find out if the head comes off to leave 3/8" or 1/4" male thread.

I have heard that a 'locking' screw is visible that retains the head.

Question and answers from Amazon.

Question:
Is the head removeable?
Answer:

No, the head is not removeable.

Yes it is, it screws on and off

Hi Buddy, I never tried it, but I can see a lock screw to unlock the head

I've just had a look at mine. It isn't removable, at least not made that way! It looks as if the bottom of the ballhead must have a 'male' projection which slides in to the centre column and the two are fixed together with a hollow 'stud' which fits through from one side of the column to the other and through the 'male' fitting of the head. This could be drilled out and the head removed I suppose and some clever diy carried out.

My pleasure. If you do a mod can you write it up for me? ;)

Thanks,

Looks awfully bendy to me - but at that price?

I would save a little more and get something better - just my 2p!

It's fine for compact cameras. I don't expect anyone would put a heavy dslr/lens combo on it.
