received this today along with 804rc2 head and very dissappointed

the head first.. the arms are very short and badly positioned so much so that one of them ( that controls the up and down ) sits under the camera body making it almost impossible to tilt properly without having to hold it at a weird angle and certainly pretty much makes pan and tilt at the same time a no go.

as for the tripod. all the research i did indicated it had metal spiked feet.. nope. just rubber ones with no spikes at all. and i know its not a big thing.. but no bag supplied either. the whole thing which iwas expecting to feel quite solid and robust feels in fact rather flimsy. the lever locks are very plasticy and feel like they could snap off easily .
was a toss up between this and the vanguard alta pro.. ( should have gone with initial gut instinct and got the vanguard but went for this because ( well its manfrotto and seems they are a good brand to have. ) wouldnt say thats the case here.

wex so shouldnt be any issue returning or replacement ( though will cost me a tenner for the privilege of just looking at it.
thats the risk you take i guess buying a tripod online, no matter how many vids and reviews you read you really cant tell until one is in your hand. but im baffled as to why it only has plain rubber feet and not spiked as several places ive looked show it with spiked feet ( unless its an optional upgrade you can add ) but also just how flimsy the leg locks feel ( like a slightly heavy tug and they would snap off.)
unfortunately for sucha big town just down the road from me ( croydon ) theres no camera shops other than the usual pc world/ currys combo. and certainly not a decent dedicated one where you could go look at a range of tripods

The old model was quite sturdy if a bit short ,I think they upgraded all there lines a while ago ,read made cheaper/ cut corners for that

well ive asked wex if they will exchange it for the vanguard which is slightly taller, has multiple angle centre column ( can be set any position all the way to 180 degrees down for macro work, has spiked retractable feet, a better head and comes with a bag , a centre hook and a sling to add extra weight that sits below the hook between the 3 legs.
its a right royal pain as im away this weekend and needed the tripod so now thats stuffed that up entirely.
