Manfrotto Neotec Monopod W/Safety Lock

Good morning all,
Have any members had any experience with this monopod?
Also what head would you recommend?
The one concern for me is that it's closed length is 74.5cm as I would use it for travel.
Any other recommendations for a 'quick release' monopod.

No personal experience, but one of my friends has one and he blogged about it:

He talks about using a Wimberley head and a 400mm f/2.8 lens; this was specifically for sports (see http://tug.com/blog/2011/03/13/01.html). I think that demonstrates that with the right head the monopod can handle any lens. But that head you would use depends on your lens, not the monopod. Which lens(es) would you plan to use with it?

I'm thinking of the following lenses - Canon 70-200 f4 L is and 100-400 f4 L is
 
Why do you think you need a monopod for those lenses? They're both easily hand holdable, surely?

At my age I seem to now struggle with 'camera shake' and in low light situations thought a monopod would be the best solution
 
Neotec monopod doesn't pack up so small, is quite heavy and expensive, but for speed of use and quick height adjustment, it's second to none. If speed isn't an issue (and flip-lock legs are pretty quick, as opposed to collar-locks) then there are much cheaper and lighter options.

If you shoot things like birds or aircraft, get one tall enough to put the viewfinder just above eye-level.
 
I have one, they are quite large and heavy, but superb to use.

If you want to use it for travel, I would honestly not recommend it though, for the reasons Richard states above.

Mine will be up for sale soon as I simply don`t use it enough.
 
I've got one too, loved it till it broke :( The lower section doesn't lock anymore, and there's no links on the web of similar issues.

Still trying to get the lowdown from Manfrotto to get it repaired. I'll probably get a replacement travel sized one so that it's still useful if the neotec gets repaired.

As above, it's far from the smallest and lightest available.
