anyone got any opinions or remarks if this would be any good for a canon 7D 400mm lens on offer at camera world £200 woundering weither to get one or not

I think it should be ok depending on the head used and the weight of the 400mm lens you have.

Agree with the above answer about making sure you get a suitable head though

If its the 400mm f2.8 reckon you need a gimbal or something very substantial. I use an old 055 with ballhead for a 40D with a 400mm but its the f5.6 whch is considerably smaller and lighter
