Manual Focus/Zoom Question

Is it ok when using manual focus to zoom in on the spot your focusing on to make sure the focus is right and then zoom out to take the picture?? Is this ok to do or will it mess up the focus when zoomed out?

It will most definetely mess up the focus as you are effectively moving the lens. Compose the shot as you want it, then focus.

In the old days I used to zoom in ,focus,zoom out check picture for sharpness then take it.
But you have to be careful ,as when you zoom back you can slightly twist out of focus on the new lenses.

Try it, but it's best to use the method advocated by TCR4x4.
