Hi all, don't know if this is in the right area as writing on my phone and the options aren't the same as on my PC.

I have just purchased a cheap manual lens, however as it isn't for my camera make I have to buy an adaptor.
Do I just get a bog standard one and do all the settings myself or spend a little bit more and get one than when I press the button half way I get some help with focus?
This is my first buy away from my camera make so in at the deep end a bit here.
Thanks.

Help with focus, as you probably know, is just the red light and beep for focus confirm. Manual focussing with a dSLR is hampered by the view-finder screen being plain ie it has no split-prism or micro-prism, and Olympus 4/3 are not the biggest or brightest to start with (I have an e620).
I use OM and M42 lenses: I have both types of adapter, the plain and focus-confirm. I use the focus confirm if I'm shooting stuff where I'll have the camera to my eye mostly and the plain when it's going to be on a tripod. In the latter case, I use Live View to get a better focus. Not sure about the e410 but I can magnify the Live View, which is even better :)

You should also be aware that infinity focus may not be possible with quite a few of either type of adapter, read the description carefully! If it doesn't say, then it probably doesn't do. A common phrase that means won't is 'Macro Focussing' :)
My Focus Confirm adapter actually focusses beyond infinity, so I can't just twist the barrel alll the way round for infinity, I have to ease it back a shade.

Thank you for that. Will have a play with the normal one. Think I may get the other as I do quite often just use the view finder.
