Map websites showing compass direction

hi

does anyone know of a mapping website that shows the compass direction?, i.e. some way of finding out if your pointing north, south, east, west on a particular road

tried google maps and multimap but neither seem to have it?
 
I thought the default view was North as you look at it?
 
It might not be. There's so many different North's, and I think many maps arn't oriented any of them :D
 
ah it may be correct actually, ive just opened google maps on my home address, and the orientation of the map seems to fit.... the back of my house gets sun in the morning and sets in the evening at the front, and thats how the map appears....

so i think it makes sense
 
On O S Maps the grid lines always run North-South, East-West with Grid North always at the top. True North: the direction of a meridian of longitude which converges on the North Pole.You have to allow about plus 2-3 degrees for magnetic North. or technically....

The horizontal angular difference between True North and Magnetic North is called MAGNETIC VARIATION or DECLINATION. The horizontal angular difference between Grid North and Magnetic North is called GRID MAGNETIC ANGLE. It is this angle which needs to be applied when converting between magnetic and grid bearings.Differences between the three norths are given on Ordnance Survey 1:50000 scale OS Landranger® and OS Explorer 1:25000 maps.
