Yes
Basically I need a flash for my macro work using canon 60mm macro lens

I know this lens has limited adjustment, so i need to know if it will be too powerful and could make my images too bright.over exposed.

Or can I change the settings on camera enough to adjust it for working at this distance

any info welcome

thanks

I have a Marumi Ring Flash and use it with a canon 100mm 2.8 macro. I don't think you will have problems with too much light. It works very well for the price, but not powerful enough.

Not powerful enough?

do you mean in general or to over expose?

does it work ok in day light? taking into account I will be working alot closer that you at 100mm etc

thanks.

It struggles a bit if I stop my lens down f8. If you don't stop the lens down it works ok, but you get very shallow DOF.

hmmm....is that with the EV at its highest to? or just set to 0?

I tried adjusting the EV but it didn't make much differance. If you put the ISO up it works a bit better, but you lose some quality.

It has the same power output as the Canon ringflash, guide number 14.

The camera's E-TTL system will vary the power to suit the magnification and f/number, in the same way as it will with the Canon ringflash.

It's unlikely to run out of power unless you move back from the subject, ie not at true macro distance, or use low ISO at high f/numbers.
