Yes
Went to Marwell today, took about 600 pictures and walked about 20 miles. I got there at 10.00 and left about 5.15 so a really full day. I thoroughly recommend this to everyone.

The only frustration with some of my shots came later on in the day when I got a lot of reflected light from the glass screens, I'm hoping to sort these on photoshop.

Can't wait to go again

Just out of interest, is this Marwell Zoo? That's all I'm getting from Google Maps.

Yes you're right. It's just that on the map it was giving two entries, one as Marwell Zoo and another as Marwell Zoological Park, but they must be one and the same as the address is Winchester. A mate of mine recommended this place to me too.

I love Marwell!

Let's see some shots then Levidog! (lovin' yours ShrubMonkey!)

Ok guys here are a few

I hope these turn up ok as they are the first I have uploaded

Love the Tiger shot, that is great. Especially as the window (where I guess you took the shot through) is normally pretty dirty.

Aww - they're fabulous Levidog! Love the concentration on the monkey's face >:o)

Very nice, I love the look on the leopard's face, just like a domestic cat writ large :)

I loved the giraffe house at Marwell, they would bend down to be fed/stroked and the size of their heads was startling!

Just to add another recommendation for Marwell, have a season pass

Me too Shrub, it is really worthwhile. Effectively you make up your expense on your third visit to the park...as well as other special events like evening BBQ's :) for pass holders. Will be interesting to take some pictures at the park at night.

Love the pics Levidog, especially the tiger. This Sunday I waited for quite a while at the seating area near the tiger pool, but the sod refused to show up :p.

I tell you, I went up that flipping hill umpteen times before the tigers got out of bed. I went round the park so many times to catch all the animal out and about my feet could barely take me back to the car park.

Can't wait to do it again :D

Hoping to get to Slimbridge at sometime this week

Catch the 'road train' then:p. Would love to have a meet there sometime....maybe some other toggers could entice the cute tiger out for me!:D

That would be good fun to meet up, I'm really tempted by the Marwell Photo Group are there any members on here ?

Are you talking about Flickr Marwell Photo Group? If so, then yes. I don't know of any other group personally, but would love to know if there is.

You are quite right..not the flickr group. I am going to have a good look at that group and consider joining...if they let me in that is!!

I havent been to a Zoo for years as Im not a big fan of looking at animals in cages and looking depressed, I would like to go to Marwell

Is it a place I will enjoy considering the above?

thanks

The animals are kept in large enclosures as opposed to cages. They have large areas to move about. While I guess it will never replace game parks or the wild, the enclosures are probably as close to that as could be expected in a park. As an avid animal lover myself, I certainly would not be happy if it was a traditional zoo setup.

I think you might be pleasantly surprised if you visit there:).
