I've been advised by a few people now that the replica grips for the D700 are just as good as the original.
Just thought I'd ask you lot if this was the case, and if so, any recommendations on one to get?
RoFlCoPtEr!
Hell no, bought one for £55.00 and it doesn't work with the EL4 batterys, the switch thingy-ma-bob to pull the cartridge for batterys out are very loose, feels aweful and the shutter release is horrble and only tends to work when it wants to!!
By the way, I bought a second one because I thought the first one was faulty. But no, their all the same.
When I opened the first one up to see why it wouldn't work with EL4 batterys, I noticed that several screws where missing, soldering was shoddy work, wires where loose.. It was like they let a rat loose in there or something.
Their not all the same though, bought one for my D90 years ago and worked beautifully with no problems or hassle.
The only reason I use the grip now is for the 8 FPS, other than that Its dead weight so I just take it off.
Do yourself a favour and buy a 2nd hand/new Nikon one.
