Medium Format Digital Camera

OH says I can have one if she wins the Lottery!!!

Dave

I've just started playing with medium format film cameras and was about to ask if they do digital ones just out of curiousity.

I asked google first and it turns out they do exist (Much to my suprise for some reason).

Hasselblad Medium Format 39MP Wow!

One for the christmas list I think

We've just got a 31MP one at work. I've taken it out for a test once;

Will be taking it out from time to time for a range of subjects. If you want REALLY high resolutions, get yourself a 5x4 camera and a 5x4 film scanner. :)

:( :( :( dont mention this....!!!! i want one so much it hurts:(:(:(.... not at all for the sensor or all the fancy computory bits.... but just for how having a hasselblad V feels in my hands... Ive never felt so blown away, and so motivated to photograph then when using one,... yes i love film shooting film on the side, but its not practical all the time, so having a digital one that i could use all the time, would be awsome:(

Anyone read the review at the bottom of the page :lol:

'Fantastic Camera Aug 07, 2009
I purchased this camera in lieu of paying rent on my apartment for 4 years, and believe me when I say it was worth it. I used the box that it came in as a hat and some other boxes for a home. It's uncomfortable but the pictures I've taken of my new home are so sharp that you can see the fleas on the brick I use for a pillow. I can also take high detail pictures of my children (who I am no longer able to see due to court order resulting from gross negligence) from an acceptable distance. Highly recommended!

I seem to remember (probably about 2 yrs ago) Mamiya announicing a MF difital system. Anyone know what happened to that?

It's out and working (It's the Mamiya ZD) Problem is that it uses a leaf back, and Leaf have gone under, so you will get problems with support etc.

And peeps reckon Leicas are expensive... :naughty:

to be fair, there's a leica medium format SLR camera coming, and it's none too cheap either.

Leaf are still there and are joined with Phase One now. I don't keep very up to date with these things so I don't know where or if Kodak are involved any more??

The Hasselblad medium format digital camera's are about 16k, puts a D3x in the shade lol, but then you wouldn't use a Hasselblad to shoot a wedding or a sports event, imagine that ! i'd laugh.

Did'nt Rollie do one 5 or 6 years ago, full auto focus etc.

Oh, so they have;

Phase One A/S, in conjunction with senior management employees of Leaf, today announced that they have created a new entity, Leaf Imaging Ltd., to purchase certain assets of the Leaf camera business. The assets include the “Leaf” brand product names, engineering design and production tools.

The new entity will also enter into an intellectual property license with Eastman Kodak CompanyKodak Company that is royalty bearing to Kodak.

You learn something new everyday. :)

I'm sure I've seen Brett Harkness or similar in a magazine shooting weddings on a digital Hassleblad.

Photographer shoots weddings on medium format. Now that is newsworthy. ;)

I'd be happy to shoot anything with my digiback and mamiya kit. 1 frame per second and lower ISO's are really a small price to pay for image quality that no 35mm based system could dream of.

Oh, and a 12 stop dynamic range might be quite good for weddings too I suppose. ;)

1 frame per second? How do you deal with the brides wanting 2500 photos from their day?;)

A phase one p65 digital back is 61mp with 12.5f stops of dynamic range. Yes please.
