Beginner Memory Card Help

I bought a 128gb SanDisk Ultra SDCX memory card for my Nikon D90 that i inherited from my late grandfather.
It's a blank memory card but my computer tells me i've used 64gb and have 55gb free.
How am I able to use the whole of the memory cards memory?

Formatted it, and it still does it.
Would the fact that i'm using the camera to view my memory card on my PC effect it?

Unfortunately not. I'm going to try my mums laptop, which does have a card slot

Plugging it in to the PC and doing it worked and said i had '119gb free of 119gb', but now when i plug it back in to my camera, it wants me to format the memory card.
Formatting it again in the camera has returned it back to 64gb used and 55gb free..

I think I am right in saying the D90 does not support SDXC but only SDHC which is why it does not work properly as it cant register the extra capacity.

Older card readers can have the same problem. I had to upgrade my old one when I got my first SDHC card.
