Memory card problem

I was just going through my cf memory cards today formatting them ready for next weekend, I put one in and the camera froze up so I took it out and put it in the card reader in the PC. When I looked for the card in my computer there was no sign of it, the pc just doesn't see it. Is the card a duff or can it be recovered somehow. no biggie if it cant as whatever was on it will already have been saved.

my thoughts on cards that glitch is to bin them
even if you manage to recover it the chances are it will glitch again right about the time you really need it

Bin it.

Anytime I get a problem from a card I just bin it, you just know it will go wrong at the most inconvenient moment.

Yeah. I think the best thing to do would be to just bin it. Do they wear out or is it just one of those things, they could last years or fail at any time?

it's the same as any other piece of electronics, some do fail and i imagine they have a finite read / write life but to reach it would be unusual
