Memory Card Question

There was a thread I think last week with almost exactly the same question.

There is a question over whether the 300s can utilise all of the speed of the UHS SD card.
On that basis... I'd choose the CF, which is typically a faster format anyway.

Do you need all that speed? Do you do lots of HD filming or fast burst photos?

Sorry missed that last thread! :bonk:

No, don't do any filming but do sometimes use fast burst rate so looking for best speed possible really.

The CF card is 60mbs and the SD 95mbs, is the CF card still faster then? Or is anything above 60mbs wasted on the D300s anyway?

Thanks

This was the question.

The D7100 which is newer? was the first of the Nikons to support UHS... I read that there is a firware update for the 300s to help it out, but i don't know at what point the hadware gets constrained.

fwiw, I don't film in HD, and (until very recently) only had a 30MB/s card... only once I found the card struggle with fast burst and that was because the card was 99% full... and then totally full.

Personally, I think anything around the 60MB/s will be more than good enough for all but the hardest HD filming, and even then I can't see it struggling.

Thats my opinion anyway :D
