memory cards!

hiya

i've just bought a nikon D300 and am new to the world of compact flash cards - what do you guys use? i think 4 or 8g will be enough, but what brands do you use and does speed rating count for much?!

i am upgrading from a D40X and use the camera for shooting bands, people and other general shots, so having a lightening quick card is probably not essential.

all help appreciated!
