Metering and White Balance?

I was just wondering, what is the difference between metering and white balance?

Metering is the amount of light, White Balance is the colour temperature of the light.

Light Bulbs have a different colour temperature to sun light for example, take a photo under a standard light bulb with the camera set to Sunny, you will get an orange cast to the image.

They are related in a way.

Colour temperature is about the relative balance of red, green and blue light which together make up white light which has equal quantities of all colours, eg noon sunlight.

White balance adjusts the 'effective' exposure level of these colours independently, by altering the level of amplification they are given in JPEG processing.
