:woot:

Work are sending me to Miami for 5 days on the 2nd of Nov. Once I know who I am flying with I'll start working out how to manage to take my Camera as well as my Work Laptop, equip etc.
I think I'll need the airline to allow 2 hand luggage bags. i have a monster of a laptop bag thats great for flying but doesn't fit my DSLR in. I sure as hell aint putting either the laptop or the DSLR in the hold!

Oh well, I'll work it, at the very least I'll have a P&S so will get some pictures at least.

Lucky you.................enjoy:)

Cheers,

It sounds more glam that it is. I have a hell of a lot to get don out there. But I should have one eve at least to go out with a camera.

I fly quite a lot, and depending on what I am taking have the following bags:

Lowepro Vertex 200 - most international flights (BA, AA etc) will let you take this as carry on - has plenty of room for nearly all DSLR kit, and my laptop (Dell D630) plus my external hard drive (One of those "MyBook" things) and most of the ancillery stuff.

However, for flights into Europe or with Ryanair/Easyjet etc. the Vertex is too big for carry on, so I take the Lowepro Mini Trekker, which will just take my laptop, 2 DSLRs, 3 lenses.

Tripod always gets wrapped in clothes and put in a suitcase. If you run out of room in the camera bag, put anything you don't need immediately into the suitcase - laptop charger, battery charger, cables etc. It's unlikely that these will get broken, especially if you place them in the middle of the bag with plenty of padding around them. If they are small enough then put them inside any shoes you have packed.

Don't forget if you take cleaning fluid (as I do) that it has to be put in the clear bag, or in the checked baggage...

would much rather be sat at home in the November drizzle! :shake:

Hell, it aint that bad!

One of the reasons I'm glad to be booked on the Eurostar for Paris next month, much easier for taking gear! Eurostar not go to Miami then? ;):D

I could ask for a detour  I am flying with virgin, just off to check hand luggage policies!

Unfortunately, my work isn't photography, I'm a design engineer. I have to carry all the documennts and drawings relating to the customers facility I am flying out to review. That means one bag for work, then if I can, my camera bag as well. My work laptop is a monster too, a Dell M6300. Its mahoosive!

A lot of uk airlines let you take 6KG on board.:'(

I find the biggest restriction is actually the size of the bag itself, rather than the weight of carry on, there's a lot of airlines who state they don't have a weight restriction on carry on baggage...
