Just got an Olympus e-pl1 and it seems ace. Just wondering how much better the primes are than the kit lens. I do want a pancake really for size as well. As they mostly come with a kit lens have I got any chance of anyone wanting to trade a pancake with me for my zoom do you think or do I just need to save. As I spent all my money it could be a while. Hee hee
 
One option is to go down with adaptor route giving you access to the very best zuiko glass. it's naturally bigger and heavier but you can have access to some really super optics like the 50mm f2
 
Will Panasonic lenses work? I think so...

I have the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 and it seems to be a very good lens and better than the 14-42mm I have which is competent enough but perhaps just a bit... ordinary, the 20mm f1.7 is a bit more special.
 
The 20mm really make the micro 4/3s system....I would highly recommend scrimping and saving for it. I'm thinking of adding the 14mm as well :)
 
Both the Panasonic 14mm f2.5 and 20mm f1.7 are great lenses and will work on your Olympus. I have the Olympus 17mm f2.8 on my Panasonic GF-1 and i love it. Great focal length for me and it's a very sharp lens.
 
Oh right that's good. I audio heard the reviews on the 17 weren't all brilliant but its the focal length is want most I think so that's good.
 
I dont use my 14-45 any more and just have the 14mm and 20mm lenses, both of which are lovely and compact, and very sharp.
 
m.Zuiko 17mm about the same as the 14-42
Panasonic 14mm sharper but not excessively
Panasonic 20mm super sharp
Panasonic 45mm Definitely sharper than kit lens but never seems popular?
Voigtlander 25mm f0.95 - well who cares about sharpness it's f0.95! (FWIW it is pretty damn impressibe)

Expected 12mm f2.0, 25mm f1.4 and 50mm f1.8? who knows...
Personally I'd trade the 14-42 for a Panasonic 14-45mm, it is MUCH better, exspecially compared to the m.Zuiko 14-42mm mk1

If you want a cheap and cheerful manual prome get an MD Rokkor 45mm F2, I love mine and doesn't feel out of place on m4/3.
