Micro 4 3rds

a way to get you to waste huge amounts ona new system :D
 
I had the GF1 for a brief period and was impressed with the quality of the images. For such a little camera it really packs a punch. The 20mm f1.7 pancake lens was great, lightning fast auto-focus and stunning image quality.

It was when I slapped on the 45-200mm that I was less impressed. I found the auto focus to be slow and it often locked onto the background rather than the subject.

Still, an amazing piece of kit - but I'd agree it's expensive.
 
Well ive got the panasonic G1 and i love it, but when talking to other people with the classics they seem to shun it! Its very interesting hearing about the pancake lens as i was reading about this the other day so thats good to know! :D How many others have tried it??

I think EVIL cameras (Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens) are the most exciting and signification development since digital.

They are a much fuller realisation of what digital is capable of, rather than being a conventional camera with a digital chip where the film used to be. As soon as they can get sensor switching to replace the mechanical shutter, cameras will be solid state :thumbs:

Canon/Nikon/Sony/Samsung will not leave this market alone for long, though maybe not with 4/3rds format. And I don't think we've seen a fraction of what these cameras will be capable of in a few years, even though the new models from Panasonic and Olympus are very accomplished first attempts.

But at the end of the day, all they do is take pictures. Good pictures or rubbish pictures, still down to the photographer. Nice shiny new toys though ;)
