There seems to be very little or even none posted about Micro Four Thirds cameras. So here goes. The main reason why I left Nikon full frame cameras is due to weight, especially lenses. This is the main reason why I changed and went over to Panasonic, first with the G9 and added the G9ii later version. No way could I have done this with an 800mm lens

Due to not only incredable imge stablisation in the camera but also able to improve on that with the lens also having stablisation as well.

Added to this if interested the video side of the G8ii camera can and does amazing things such as slowing movement down with a 300fps setting, ideal to show golf swings or birds in flght etc. Where as most full frame cameras use same make lenses or limited third part lenses using an MFT camera every other MFT lens make with fit

Don't misundestand me there is nothing wrong sticking to FF cameras, I had nikons from the D90 era through to the D810 and everything inbetween. , But at the age 81 there are other consideration to think of.

Travel is another consideation is that airlines have a carry one weigth limit and size restrictions. All too easy to overpck large heavy lenses, or risk being put in the aircraft hold to be thrown around by careless baggage handlers.

Go out on a days hike and carrying heavy camera equipment soon become a "wish I had not" issue

You may ask "what about compact cameras? I avoided this deliberately as the thread is about Micro four thirds only.

The change from using a Nikon D810 to Panasonic G9 then the G9ii was like a culture shock , how much cameras have become advanced with menus . the equivilant is like leaving the stone age to the digital age . From single slot CF cards to dual slot SD cards allowing backup that was impossible before.,as also SSD dive direct ito camera body for extra recording space from the G9ii port

Would I go back to using a full frame camera? definately no ! and if one is consideraig doing the same I say do it and experience what the camera I have and now use
.

Disclaimer I have no financial/dvertising connection with Panasonic, only a very happy purchaser

There is the Olympus owners thread, as is the Panasonic G9.

It's certainly working for you Bazza. There is plenty of chat around M43 on the site though, but not under such a heading. There is in particular the Olympus OM-D cameras thread, but it generally comes up in a particular context, for example in the Nature/Birds and, Jeff (The Black Fox) has aways used the Olympus/OM Series cameras for some stunning shots,

I posted because the panasonic MFT camera is often overlooked because other makes, as you mentioned , seem to get more attention. So trying to even up the field so to speak seems necessary. Ok my be a bit larger size agreed but still a decent make. Obviously there are differences such as with bufferent ,but the Pansonic makes up in other ways. I don't think the video quality can be bettered as one example, or the dual image stablisation which is truely amazing..

Just take Slow motion. . I dont have other makes to compare with but this takes some beating and picture quality !!!. Again hand held and no editing apart from adding sound
