I'm looking for some microphone recommendations for general use and more specifically, interviews and Youtube style vlogs. I already have the following kit:
  • Canon 1DX Mark II
  • Zoom H6 Audio Recorder
I'm looking for a day-to-day microphone as a carry around as well as something more professional for studio style situations.

For inside work I have been getting good results with the Rode NT 5. The sound for the money seams really good and they are compact and robust.

I use a sennheiser MKE400 and for outdoor put a guttman deadcat on it. Not the cheapest of microphones but sound reproduction is great

without the deadcat on it

For studio and interviews, you are best of using a DAW+interface+ two dynamic microphones. However, if you do not already own these, it will cost quite a bit.

If you have two phones, or a phone and a tablet, then the RODE Lav mic is a great quality cheap option. You can get two of these, and sync the audio later.

If this does not appeal, there is a the RODE reporter mic which will be good for interviews, and you can get a cable that plugs it straight into the camera.

Otherwise, the next option is something like a shotgun mic.

The closer you can get the mic to the interviewee, the better the signal to noise ratio.

A cheap option would be a decent wired levalier like the ATR3350is directly in to the camera Mic input.

Separate audio recording is a pain if you can't genlock the equipment.
