Does anyone know where I could buy a copy of this. Cant seem to be able to find one anywhere.

It's old hat now as office 2007 is now used.

any reason you need 2003?

Thought it would be cheaper. Want to get office on my laptop, word, excel, front-page etc.

Hi Andy,

I suspect that you might find with 2007 being out for a while and 2010 around the corner nowhere will still be stocking this. Is there anything specific you need 2003 for? (if it's just that you hate 2007 I'd understand we've just been upgraded at work and it's a big difference with layouts).

Have you tried OpenOffice http://www.openoffice.org as I remember that got a lot of the compatibility issues ironed out.

If it's Frontpage you want it isn't part of 2007. Microsoft now use Expression Web for this and have dropped Frontpage.

That's fine then, was hoping to get Office 2003 for about £10, guess I was on dream land. May just shall out for Office 2007 or wait till there's a offer.

as said you may as well go for 2007, yeah its a complete new layout but like everything you get used to it after a while (i actually stuggle to use 2003 now lol)

I haven't tried the new layout. It does look good just a bit complicated, I suppose like you said you would get use to it. :)

If you have kids at school or are in education of some kind you can buy it 2007 at educational discount prices.

I've never got used to 2007 and still detest it to this day - just spent my life looking for the simplest of things - had to end up buying an addon that makes it look exactly like 2003!

As above, not sure you can buy it anywhere legally anymore

I didnt like 2007 at first but you do get used to it once you start using it.
As Neil said 2010 is pretty much identical to 2007 so gotta move with the times sooner or later

I get Office 2007 FREE through my company :)

Think I might still have a genuine Office 97 if you are struggling

Let me know and I'll have a look

its a piece of pie once you figure out the ribbon.. office 2010 is the same so youll have to switch sooner or later ;)

But very frustrating when you just can't figure out where soemthing is ... but getting use to it now.

agreed, it was a complete arse ache to use to start with. but like everything it becomes second nature sooner or later :)

When we rolled out 2007, we also made the MS Intercative Command Guides available to all our users. They are very useful little flash apps that let you choose the 2003 command you want and then the screen flips to show you where to look in the 2007 ribbon. This is the link to the one for Word and if you scroll to the bottom of the page, you will find the links to the Excel, Outlook and Access guides.

Open Office has been mentioned earlier in this thread but it is excellent. You can do all the usual stuff in word processing and spreadsheet work, save files in MS Office formats and its free.

Another free alternative is Google Docs.

Office 2007 is also, in my opinion and the opinion of many others I work with, extremely unintuitive and difficult to use.

Fella, you can pick up Office 2003 on ebay or Amazon.

It's the typical Microsoft approach - 'lets redesign everything from scratch to make it easier to use' - trouble is that approach only works for people who have never touched a computer, everyone else who is used to the way it once worked is completely flumoxxed.

I recommend GoogleDocs with a big thumbs up. Free, functional (although fairly basic), and you don't have to worry about which memory stick you saved it on as it's all on line.

Thanks for the offers by everyone through pm and on the thread, shows what a friendly forum this place is. I have been sorted now. Thanks. :)
