Mid priced macro lens

A friend of mine is wanting to try macro photography,can anyone suggest a mid priced lens,it will be going on the end of a Nikon D5000. Thanks.

What do you class as mid priced?
Should be able to get a used Tamron 90mm or Sigma 105 for under £300

You can get a Nikon 60mm AF-D f/2.6 for less that £240 - it won't AF on the D5000 but if you're a MF lover (for macro work) than it's no big deal. Tamron 90mm seems a good lens, as does the siggy 105mm

Tamron 90mm or sigma 105mm are the two I would be looking at. Both superb lenses.
