Up until now I've always borrowed a Canon EFS 18-50 f2.8 when I've needed a non-prime lens in that range.
Later in the year I'm heading to Botswana on a camping trip and I don't want to borrow the lens just in case.
I cant afford the Canon EFS so have been looking at Sigma and Tamron lenses in a similar zoom range.
I would need the zoom for photography and video so will need both autofocus and easy to use manual focus.
Does anyone have any views on these lenses? I've read that early versions of the image stabilisation were bad. Is the IS worth it? Is one much better than the other?
