MiFi cards and D800

apologies if I'm entirely wrong, but I'm not sure what you are asking. A MiFi card for all I know is used to create hotspots in a WiFi, and I wonder whether actually you are asking for a recommendation for a CF or SD card for the D800 ?

If so, I use CF and SD cards from Sandisk usually, and I use the 'Extreme Pro' versions. Here is a website which lists the speeds of different cards for your camera:

I have seen MiFi SD cards which are for camera use but never having used one I thought I'd ask. Obviously they are not very popular looking at the response. I wanted to use the iPad to view pictures as I find the screen on the camera a bit too small. It would be nice to show people an idea of what their picture would be like on a larger screen.

for the purpose of viewing while taking the photo's a 4 or 8 gig card would be enough i take it you want to view the photographs as soon as there taken ?
you can set the card up to transfer the image straight away rather than storing to the card which would make a large card redundant

i have a 4 gig version and the way i use it is to have jpg images save to the eye fi card and raw images save to the CF card the jpg images are transfered from the eye fi card as they are taken and the card is setup to erase the oldest jpg first when the card fills up and loop
to set the card up to transfer raw files would make the raw transfer long winded it just takes too long hence transfering jpg only

works for me
 
I have a 16gig Transcend wifi SD card that I sometimes use in my D7000.
Works pretty well but transfer speed could be better. Range seems ok so far - only tried about 10 or so feet so far though which was enough.
Yeah - its a novelty really I think but it could have more serious use I guess for a pro photographer such as in studio.
Not all of the cards out there will support RAW images though

the card i have is one of the earlier ones


i use canon with no SD slot which means i have to use a SD - CF adapter for the eye fi card which limits the range but i am pretty sure using one without an adapter will improve the range considerably
i think eye fi cards are now badged sandisk eye fi sd cards now but there's quite a few different ones doing the rounds but if i was to buy another i think i would stick to sandisk

as julian pointed out some of the earlier eye fi cards do not transmit RAW images the one i own only does JPG's but the pro versions do both
it isn't an issue for me as i only want to view the jpg to see how the image turned out the RAW processing would be done later

if you want one for transferring RAW images make sure the one you choose will
