There are a couple of 400mm 2,8 IS lenses on a well known auction site at the moment. both well under current market value. The seller does not offer collection...Sounds very suspect to me... Might well be cosher with the new mkii lens being released but it does sound suspect
 
you may be right, but collection can be a pain in the neck as have to find suitable time, wait in etc,. plus you lose any profit on postage.
 
Think what Tug means is that theres not the option to view if you wanted to which would make me worry that theres something dodgy:)
 
Send a message, ask for the serial number. No reason not to give to you if it's legit.
 
I would never offer collection on anything I sell either. If you send by post you have proof of delivery at least incase the buyer reports it not received.
 
Personally, I would never buy any piece of expensive kit without inspecting it first. Get a written receipt - and take a photo of the occasion. ;)
 
probably something to do with fraud without the proof of postage? But if you offer cash collection at a convenient time, I don't see any reason why seller would refuse that
 
Always worth baring in mind that if something seems to be good to be true, it quite probably is.
 
I sell a fair bit on ebay and I never offer collection.

I also try and avoid buying anything that's collection only even if it's local.

Never mind the risk of meeting someone with lots of cash or an expensive item with me, I just don't want the bother of arranging a suitable time then either traveling or having the other person come to my house, then having to engage in small talk, the risk of haggling etc.
