Mighty Mouse Wheel Problems

Been having lots of problems with the scroll wheel on my Mighty Mouse recently and it seems to be clogging/becoming inactive every two weeks.

I am cleaning it with PEC Pads and fluid which seems to do the job for a little while. Whilst Apple suggest water to clean it (on a cloth) I have just come across this site which some of the more adventurous may find useful and a longer term fix...

It looks a bit involved/warranty voiding for my liking but thought some other may find useful - maybe something for your tips of the day Cowasaki?

I used the method you have linked for some time but eventually regardless of how careful you are the ribbon connectors deteriorate and the screws that hold the scroll ball become loose in their mountings.

I think the mighty mouse scroll ball design is inherently flawed, I filed mine in the bin and got a Logitech V470.

I always find that a well rung out micro-fiber cloth does the trick well. I clean the ball as a matter of course now when polishing the desk etc that the mac is on.
