...............are there such things? I'm thinking along the lines of pet photography, so something portable and easy to set up without needing a whole room to set them up. No idea of budget at this time so just ideas of what's out there.

Before anyone posts that "Let me google that for you" thing, I am doing my own search but I would also like to hear from people here. ;)
 
I bought a setup of full sized studio lights, 3 of them. That packs up into a large bag. If you leave the soft boxes in a built state and just put everything else in the bag you can fit a decent tripod in the bag too and have everything you need in one place.

EDIT: It appears he is closed for the next month !!
 
Just looked in your kit bag ;) why not get another flash and fire them wireless. all you will need then is a b/g and hey presto mini portable studio.

no point spending loads of money if you wont use / dont like it

So do you think full size lights would be overkill for pets and can you set them up in a relatively small area without blinding the poor animal? :D Must admit, my other thought was that full size lights may be the better option in the financial long term.

I found these, any thoughts?

:lol: I was about to suggest similar. A couple of small stands or even adapted tripods, mini softboxes or umbrellas and you are away.

Yeah, thought of that too but would like to add umbrella and softbox to the mix but I would also need stands and hotshoe adaptors (as I have Sony hotshoes! :bang: ) and the cost of all that, along with another flashgun costs pretty much the same as a full lighting rig.

I have the full sized studio lights but that does not mean that I actually know how to use them properly! I am hoping for one of the new tutorials to give me some helpful tips but I have got some good shots with them. I am talking about flashing studio lights here though not permanently on ones. The ones that stay on just annoy your models and make them hot and sweaty. If you do go down this route though then you can use them for other things too.
 
Hi Marc,

I've got a couple of flash guns for sale here as you can see, neither of them are perfect but if I have been using them as studio lights on light stands with no problems. I am also throwing in the hotshoe adapters.

Would consider an offer as they have not yet sold

Thanks. Yeah, I was thinking of the flashing ones rather than the permanently on ones as these are the ones that I have used before on camera club evenings.
