Afternoon all,

Can someone please recommend a good, sturdy, mini tripod for around the £50 mark (if one exists). It cannot be any longer than 12" when collapsed, and must be able to support a Nikon D700 and Nikkor 24-70 f2.8. Ive been looking at Gorillapods, but am not convinced they would be sturdy enough (unless someone can assure me otherwise) :D

Cheers people

Velbon CX mini....or Velbon CX 460mini.

Either should suit you, the 460 goes down lower.

I have both, don't be put of by the name 'Velbon' both are sturdy tripods at a very reasonable price.

depends what you're after.

Manfrotto 709 is _very_ small and neat. Only one that size I\ve ever seen that can take a 70-200...

Giottos do a short little tripod too, takes a normal head and is still built very well. Can't find any model numbers on my one though.

UPDATE...for anyone that cares :D

Picked up one of these today. Its absolutely tiny but does exactly what I wanted it for. Thanks again all for your comments/suggestions...

Its a bit late for my post but if that should not do the job after a wee while try one of these Trek-Tech-T-Pod-Table-Tripod-MagMount I have one (eben done a review on Amazon as well) has gone down in price...

Like I said I know its a bit late but better late than never as they say :p

Thanks Steve, nice one...good review as well

To be honest, the Slik Mini wasnt exactly what I had in mind when I started my search, but after seeing it in a local camera shop, it seemed to fit my needs perfectly.

I do however, like the look of the one you have recommended above...Hmmm, is it possible to have TOO MANY tripods??

Thanks for that - thought I would review it in some detail as some just say 2 words an thats it

Too many tripods - I've got that T'Pod, A Giottos MTL9531B, Manfrotto 680B + 678 stand & a little Hama 4 mini tripod (for my flash) and do I use them - nope, well the t'pod a few times but the rest have yet to see the daylight twice :$
