I am hoping there are a few Minolta lens experts on this forum that could shed some light on these lenses. I am looking mostly at the big beercan 75-300 f4.5-5.6, restyled 75-300 f4.5-5.6, 100-300 f4.5-5.6 and 100–400 mm f4.5-6.7 lenses. I am mostly interested in image quality comparisons and aperture over focal length information. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be most appreciated.

Of all those lenses, none are outstanding but an apo version of the 100-400 will give half decent results. If you look on Dyxum it's a huge database if all mino lenses.

dyxum ftw
I love the physical feel of the beercan style lenses...
got the Sony 75 300 and its a decent kit lens

Thanks for the replies. I just stumbled upon a rather clean ( looks like new ) restyled 75-300 today so thought why not give it a try. Fingers crossed it's good but for £30 its no biggy if not :)

I started out with the Minolta 75-300 (silver body version) - it's certainly capable of producing nice results, but like all 'budget' lenses starts to show it's weaknesses if you try more challenging situations.
