Minolta lenses on a canon

I've got a feeling this isn't doable but...
does anyone know of an adapter to use minolta AF lenses on a canon 30D body?

My main reason for wanting one is because I've acquired some rather nice minolta lenses but would like to use them on my digi body.
 
From what I can make out, they're A-mounts... being a canon man, I know nothing about Minolta lenses, so I'm rather out of my depth on this one.

Manual Focus is good in a lot of situations and good for your technique generally. From experience with M42 and Canon FD lenses my advice would be to get an adapter with focus confirm-ability and avoid any adapters with an integral lens: extra bit of glass.
 
I'm quite happy using it as manual focus, I just wanted to be sure those adapters would be suitable for the autofocus lenses using the a-mount :)
I had an fd/eos adapter but stopped using it when I got my nifty fifty EF lens
 
the register distances for Canon EF (44mm) and Minolta AF (44.6mm) are very close. To get enough metal to make the bayonet socket for the minolta lens would push it too far forward to allow the lens to focus to infinity. So - while it's possible to make an adaptor, it'd have to have an additional lens built into it - making it in effect a short teleconverter with a magnification factor and consequent loss of effective aperture. For the small amount of people (relatively) who want to do this, and are prepared to put up with the inconveniences, I expect it's not worth the investment in production tooling.
