Looks like they've been reading all our complaints on here about why the x100 is not mirrorless. they are realising an x200 which is a simplified "P&S" version which I can imagine will be similar to the Leica Lux series with zoom lens most likely and around £600-800 price tag.

after that the x300 is also confirmed which will officially be mirrorless so maybe if all goes well we'll be looking at a cheaper version of a Leica M9.

Would m4/3 mount require a 2x crop sensor? That would be a step back from APS-C.

Well, the ephotozine article is a report of a report on 4/3 rumours of a post on DPReview forums quoting a post on photo.net, but with no link.

Much as it's an entertaining prospect, I'm taking the idea of an X300 next year with a large pinch of salt.
 
So they've basically ruined sales of the X100 surely? Why buy that knowing there will be a mirrorless interchangeable lens version coming?
 
I would take all that with a large pinch of salt.

The X100 is a one-off, stand-alone camera. A bit of a punt for Fuji, who are as surprised as anybody by the way it's been received. It's not even in the shops yet.

If you give it interchangeable lenses, which I think is technically not a problem, the camera suddenly becomes much bigger and much more expensive. They'd probably have to put a focal plane shutter in it too. Completely different camera.

If they take away the viewfinder, to reduce costs, it becomes a Leica X1 or a fixed-lens GF1. Neither is a great marketing prospect, and the camera loses it's main USP in the process.

Fuji may well have ambitions, and the mirrorless concept allows great freedom in camera design that was just not possible with a regular reflex viewing system. But whatever they do next will either be completely different, or a tweaking/improvement/upgrade of the current camera - they will want to make it more expensive rather than cheaper, or at least hold its current premium.
