Hey everyone :)

Had my SB600 for over a year now, and just recently its started "misbehaving:

Usually when you turn the camera on/off the flash responded with turning on or going into standby however now it doesn't. I have to turn it off and on manually. Also the "whine" you hear when its charging doesn't seem to ever stop now (perhaps it never did? can't remember)

So yeh any ideas? Also can I remotely trigger this flash or do I need the SB800? I want the SB600 to fire when the cameras internal flash goes as well...possible?

Cheers

Bry

I don`t think the D50 will remotely fire the flash from the pop up flash. You would have to purchase a trigger, speak to Flash in the Pan, he is clued up on these things.

I think only the D200 or D90 and upwards can do so.

Though I stand to be corrected.

If you go into the menu on the SB600 you can set it to go into auto standby which is what you want.

Fracster is right that CLS was only on camera's from the D80 onwards so the D50 can't trigger it unfortunately using CLS however you could still use a wireless trigger or a wired ttl cable.

Cheers for the feedback :) Next problem... its now dead :-o

Used it for a while last night, its now wont fire and doesn't respond to the fire "test" button... help? :)

Thanks :)

D50 does not have a commander mode so you would need to run the flash on manual and get a slave cell for it too fire. As for your sb600 problem, try putting a fresh set of batteries in it, I know my sb800 does weird things when the batteries are nearly flat/flat.

Excellent I'll change the batteries soon. Fairly sure the batteries are pretty good as I haven't had the usual low battery warning on the flash or anything but anythigns worth a shot...

(Just realized what I've said... Anything is worth a "shot" on a photography forum... bah bad days :-P)

You'd be amazed how quickly a flashgun will go through a set of batteries, especially cheap, low powered ones.

I use some 2500mAh rechargeable and they seem pretty reasonable :) They should be charged in a few minutes so I'll let you know :)

You sir, are a star :D:clap:

Strangely when I chucked the batteries in the charger, only ONE of them had discharged? The other 3 were about 50/60% full. Strraaannngeee!

Either way thank you very much, I now have a fully operational SB600 again!

Bry :)

Cool, pleased that you are sorted. I always keep my batteries for my flash topped up.
