I was using this in France & thought the focus was playing games with me so sent it to Sigma UK on Tuesday. On Wednesday morning they had sent me an estimate (£160 ish) to fix it. I'm (so far) impressed with the speed & professionalism of them. Current eta is a couple of weeks.

Well, I have it back now & its a lot smoother & quicker.. yippee.
Testing to be done this weekend if weather permits..

Sigma UK gave great comms, looks to have fixed the problem & have to say, I'd recommend them.

When you say missing focus do you mean back/front focussing? Is so it's a fairly standard problem with these lenses, perhaps because f/2.8 at 300mm has a very small dof.

I had that problem but it only cost me £30 to fix!

Had similar problem with my 120-300 couple of years ago, repaired under warranty and been superb since. I found Sigma service to be excellent, no complaints. I've got a 24-70 Nikkor acting up so we'll see how Nikon shape up against them!

The problem with the focus was AT TIMES it would back focus & others it would be spot on....
Drove me up the wall...

Well after testing at the weekend the AF is fixed - BUT they gave me another issue !!!!!!!

Arghh.

The Exif now reads incorrectly - I phoned them up & spoke to a tech - he thinks one of the brushes that read the exif is misaligned so we have arranged a collection for Wednesday -- onto Round 2...

I am 'still' happy with how they are dealing with me - Just, but lets see what happens now...

Under Work carried out:

Repair Focus mech, reset, Check & test

Hope you get it back quickly and all is well with the lens :)

The issue shouldn't have happened following their repair, but it sounds like they are being very helpful in fixing this...

Further Update:
The lens was 'collected' by them & organised to suit my timetable. It was picked up on Wednesday & hopefully will be repaired 'correctly' very soon.
