Mmmmm, portrait or landscape?

Yes
Took these shots back in the autumn when learning about different shutter speeds with flowing water.

I still cant decide which one I like the most
The landscape shot seems the safer bet, but I like the lines of the weir in the portrait shot although the water is slightly overexposed.

So as per title, Portrait or Landscape

Portrait is the stronger composition of the two imo.

This said there isn't a "bad" one here.

Actually, very rarely, I prefer a portrait of a "landscape type scene"
In this instance though I think that it works well, so portrait for me (y)
All the information is there, ( slightly compact) and the extra sky balances it.

All agreed .. Portrait it is.. lovely shot..

Thanks for the feedback everyone (y)

5 out of 5, so the Portrait one makes it to the "Best of best" folder

Portrait for me, a stronger lead in line from the bottom right hand corner.

Portrait for me, stronger of the two images, nice work (y). Shows the flow of the water and much better composition, only critique is the distraction of the branches at the top.

:agree:

The upright format can often give more vitality to your composition, and I am not surprised that the vote is for the 'portrait' shot. I do think you should have cropped out the white pole on the right hand edge. I would also like to have seen a little more - just a little - of the black rocks at the bottom right. Or crop them altogether. Do not be too timid with this sort of foreground, but don't overdo it either. Well done.

Landscape looks like it has more contrast and slightly dark and a nice colour sky
but both cracking shot so landscape for me

so the Portrait one makes it to the "Best of best" folder
Or does it?

Overlooked this shot :bonk: and now think its better than the Portrait shot.
What say you?

i think they are both very nice shots, but im a "portrait" landsape lover,

so prefure the secound one

i think the one above is still nice but doesnt have as much impact as the other two becasue i like to see naturally framed composures

good work though :)
