My mobile has given up the ghost today, can anyone recommend a cheap phone that I can access my home wifi and have a radio on it, as those and texting are the main things I do with my phone.

You need an iPhone, we know how much you love everything Apple like.

I have a Samsung Jet which I'd clearly reccomend to anyone! :D I'm not sure about it being what you'd call 'cheap' though

I have it on contract for £20 a month, but you can probably get it at £15 now

iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone lol

I've got an old Nokia with charger if you need a loan phone for a few weeks.

Iphones only excluded due to the ridiculous prices they are lol, this 1 thats gone belly up was a Jet Jo, and does that Nokia do all of the requirements I use Darren?

I'll dig it out and have a look but off to work shortly...

Freecycle is a good source for free stuff. You'd be amazed at what people like me put on there from time to time.

As for a radio, have you considered a batteryless wind-up one from somewhere like Asda? they are really cheap these days. If you hint in Marcel's direction he might even be able to help out with a staff discount.

Good luck in your quest :)

I use it mainly at night surfing the web, and listening to the radio at all hours of the night, the phone just stays on my chest during the night when I am not online , I have the ear plug in all night.

I'm not sure what point you're making but if it's about the radio being wind-up I understand they are very power effective these days. You could have a wind-up session at bedtime and listen through the night on one "charge". They're also much more environmentally friendly too.

No Julian, it wouldn't be up for the internet access......

Never mind thanks anyway fella, Lynn just told me to put laptop on ebay as thats I am technically using the phone for and it will be less room with the hoist and table and stuff at the side of the bed. For once she has a valid point (DONT SAY I SAID THAT) :gag:

Try the T-Mobile Pulse Mini, its £99 and has free internet for 6 months it runs android so im sure there will be a app for internet radio. Also has wifi for connecting to your wifi. Also has GPS so all in all a good little phone.

Just had a look at review on it looks a bit dinky for my sausage fingers

Thought of getting asecondhand/refurbished HTC?

I think you cab pick up and old Hero for fairly cheap these days, and HTC >> iThing imho.

http://www.mobile-phones-uk.org.uk/nokia.htm pretty much all of these ones have both wifi and FM radio, neat comparisom :)

Depends what kind of interface you want really, the E63 or E71 is good for me, but I do have fairly small fingers for the qwerty keyboard!

Did you mean cheap as in PAYG?
Not long got the Samsung Galaxy S on contract. Nice slightly larger screen than the Desire but does have bits of Samsung interface over Android that might not appeal to all but works fine with my wifi.

The Nokia 5800 isn't bad, I had one of those before, after a few upgrDes I got iPhone.

N95 is a good enough phone for the job :).

Got one sitting in the house if you would like it.

T.

that's a shame, the n95 is a damm fine little phone. I only got shot of mine
because I got a HTC Desire.

It is a shame Mike, a mate of mine has 1 and the buttons are too small and the screen is hard for me to read properly. My Mrs has had a HTC touch HD for nearly 2 years I cant use that although the screen size is perfect, and another thing it wont let me use bbc Iplayer on it, I tried texting on it it looked like I belonged to the dyslexic scotiey :D

Perhaps it would help us if you gave us a list of the model and brand which will suit your large fingers and poor eyesight. What did you have in mind, if anything?

It might be you grab one of those phones currently being advertised on telly, you may have seen them, with really large text and big buttons especially suited for people with your needs. I'll see if I can track down a link for them to help you along :)

Personally, if someone was kind enough to offer me an N95 I'd grab it like a shot. It's a terrific phone by all accounts and far far better than the ancient brick I have.

They are doro mobiles, I looked at them earlier they dont have the wifi. Size wise perfect.

something same size screen as my better halfs thats 3.8 inch screen. Kinda limits the results in a search.

latest firmware installed on phone, taken over a day to suss, phone now working but headphone socket is dodgy.

Better than nothing I expect :). Have you tried a different set of headphones, in case it's the plug at fault rather than the socket?
