hi,new to the forum and also new to photography in general. just about to buy my first dslr camera and have sorta settled on the canon 600d.l intend to try out all genres of photography and practise as much as l can to learn more and understand.l tend to go to a lot of motorsport and other events .l used to do a bit of m/bike racing in a past life and recall a photographer who had some sort of setup where he was able to show the days shots on a laptop and then print them off there and then to whoever wanted to buy. also saw this at a youth soccer tournament in scotland where people purchased photos of there team and each child ,my self included. has anyone done this sort of thing or could anybody point me in the general direction of what sort of extra equipment l need for this venture. ...l must say that this site has been a fantastic help to me so far and you all seem friendly and so willing to pass on expert knowledge that probably was'nt as easy for some of you to acquire years ago when everything was'nt so accessable. this photography thing does seem to creep up on you and sometimes it seems the more you know ,the less you understand but the more you still want to know ,.if you can figure out what l mean..,..l hope that when l am a bit more knowledgable about things , l can return the favour and help future newcomers with problems and therefore put something back in instead of taking all the time......cheers don

Slow down.. deep breath.. .. and paragraphs..

- facebook makes you write in blocks of text that are difficult to follow/read, but we're much more civilised here and you're allowed to give your words room. Some of us aren't as young as others, and big dense blocks of text interfere with the medications..

It's time to learn to walk before you run. You'll find several threads in the Talk Business section on "events photography" and several relevant threads in the Sports/Motorsports section as well. There are several threads discussing the type of printer used and the workflow from taking the shot through to how to take payments.

Get the camera and take your time learning how to use it and the lens(es) it comes with.

As Mark has pointed out, there are a lot of very experienced photographers already doing this, you really need to build up your competence with the camera before taking on the very different pressures of the commercial world.

Mark and Alastair thanks for the replies..will have a look at the section you pointed me to.

l reckon you could be right about circuits own 'togs...we don't have to many circuits over here in n.ireland so thats even worse.

l will have to do a lot of learning as you say and need to know more about the various lenses and what each one is useful for...

ps..sorry about the previous word blob but just got excited 'bout my new hobby...wanted answers to too many questions all at once...cheers..don
