Mobo+CPU+Ram Bundle! - Any Good?

Hi there guys. Our computer has just bit the dust, i must of been beasting photoshop too hard:lol:

But no, is this bundle any good?

Its only going to be for fairly light use (youtube, CS5 etc) but it has a decent cpu with it so i'll probably slap a graphics card in there eventually and get Battlefield 3 :naughty:

I have 2 towers and i'd like to make sure that these components will fit into one of them, dont mind which. They are both your normal ATX case as far as im aware.

I had a look Here and i think im going to stick with the AMD, unless you or anyone else gives me a good reason not to. I do appreciate people giving me options though so thank you Neil:thumbs:

Just one question though, do CPUs come with a stock heatsink/fan?
 
Just want to point out, that the first case (pic 1) doesn't seem to be ATX...rather Micro ATX. It looks like there are only 4 expansion slots on there, and the bundle you linked to contains a mobo which is normal ATX - with 6 expansion slots on it...so I dont think that mobo will fit in case 1.

And it seems to be the same for case 2 as well, only 4 slots on the case whereas the new mobo has 6 slots.

A new PSU should fit in case 1 but not sure about case 2, looks a bit cramped as a new PSU will be much longer.

EDIT - Cases are pretty cheap, you don't need to spend much more than £50 to get a semi decent one.

EDIT 2 - the mobo in Neil's link should work in it as it's a MATX mobo :)

With the Phenom package i can add a case and 500w PSU for an extra £20, so i'll probably do that?

Olly, the cases i was sure were ATX, they are as big as any PC cases i've ever seen (except servers and propriety units of course). But either way i'll need a need PSU, they have a case PSU bundle for £20. You're going to tell me that the case and PSU are crap now arnt you? :lol:



I'll be buying tomorrow evening so i have time to discuss things further,

Cases are down to personal preference, but that one you linked to is so cheap it's a steal !!!

The acer case i'm 99% sure is MATX, and the IBM mobo looks proprietary to that case.

I could be wrong though :)
 
Adrian, please don't post images over the forums 1024 longest side limit (even if the site does resize them).
 
Cheers Steve, yes you're right. I have plumped for a 430 watt model (cant rememeber the name) has 2 12v rails, and has good reviews. It is £45 so should be fine. The issue is the graphics card, i've now realised it doesnt have intergrated graphics (place holder), so i'd have to get a GFX too from the start, and there'd be no point putting a cheap POS into it now, it might aswell get a semi-decent one. So thats upping the budget buy £70-80. If i could find someone willing to sell or part with a win 7 disk, i could go for it now. If not i might have to plump for a different bundle from novatech. Its a Phenom II 4X 850 though "an Anthlon in disguise" i hear people calling it. But the mobo comes with on board GFX which will do me till xmas. It plays BF3 no problem so what ever (with a gfx), i'm not a framerate junkie, as lot as it beats the PS3 i'll be well happy.
 
Yep, my geforce don't half make the fans ramp up. If I was to buy a psu now I would go 600w + with 25amps or more on the 12v rails. Overclockers UK do some nice deals.
