Modding GoPro Hero HD for long term timelapse?

Morning all

Posted a similar thread in the video section, but it's pretty quiet in there...

I seem to remember but can't now find a thread about modding a GoPro HD with something that enables it to turn on and off when needed to save battery power. Thus, enabling long term timelapse. Anyone know any more about this?

Never mind, found it myself! It was this tech http://cam-do.com/GoProTimeController.html

A long shot, but does anyone have any experience of using this, or similar? I have my doubts about it being totally reliable...
