Models?

I am really trying to start doing some work and get some practice in the portrait and fashion world of photography. I really would like to work with models that aren't just friends or family. What is a good way of getting in contact with new models that would swap time for prints, and try out done different shoots for us both to gain valuable experience. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
