Yes
my clumsy daughter dropped our 430ex flash a little while ago.
it stopped charging up, but display and backlight worked.
as its three years old, and has been used a lot, we replaced it.
as i was going into nottingham today( my boss swmbo and my daughter are off to london for 4 days, dropped em at the train station. ) , i thought i,d take it in to the london camera exchange, and have a go at sending it off for repair.
got it out of its bag to demonstrate its ailments.
and the b***y thing worked perfectly. on and off camera. you barsteward etc etc.oh well, at least £30 saved.
its now a spare, just in case.

it might be something loose inside
so it might just pack up again
or mebbe the "bulb" is on the way out

either way i'd get new and get the old serviced
be a shame if it packed up on the next important "do"

Not always asociated with modern electronics...remeber the countless times of whacking the top of the telly...didnt do it any harm

Ah but it did, managed to 'fix' the dry joint for a while but could damage the board over time ;)

I used to love how hard people would beat their TV to get it working. Or the guy who used a matchstick in his powerpoint rather than pay for a repair.
