Hey all,

Who, at the top of their game, uses film still?

I love fashion and beauty photography, my inspiration for buying my RZ67 came from Fred Greissing and Vincent Peters.

Anyone else know of high level photographers that shoot film? I'm looking for names, rather than just some landscape guys shoot large format :)

Discuss :)

I think David Bailey still shoots film mostly, Rankin does occasionally. That's about all I can think of from the top of my head.

Zack Arias & Jonathan Canlas are two that spring to mind. I have a list of others at home, will post them later.

Steve McCurry apparently still uses film occasionally as he has admitted a preference for colour slide over digital and he did shoot the last roll of Kodachrome. (Although apparently that was the first roll of it he had used in several years). Apparently he has an archive containing close to 1,000,000 Kodachrome images which is quite astounding and plus they will likely be with us for much longer than colour negative or E-6 films or digital.

185 years before 20% of the yellow dye would be lost was calculated by Kodak which is an amazing length of time.

Charlie Waite still uses a 6x6 medium format Hasselblad for most of his landscape work.

Most of the landscapers use film, Joe Cornish, Charlie Waite, David Ward, although you might think of them as 'just some landscape guys shoot large format' ;)

I didn't mean it like that at all lol

I just meant that I know landscape guys use large format, so I didnt just want that as a reply. I want names, so thank you that's exactly what I'm after! (y)

Guy....dude...your work is awesome!

Is the work on your site all shot with your RB67???

McCullin is probably the last of his generation to shoot film commercially.

I love those cameras he uses too, although I'm sure theres a wonky horizon in there somewhere.

I run a little photography challenge on a football message board (of all places) and last year's winner got to spend a day shooting with this guy. A cracking prize.
