If money was no object and you were allowed 1 body, 1 macro lens, 1 'walkabout' lens, 1 zoom and 1 portrait lens....


What set up would you go for?

For me probably:

D3s
AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED
AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED
AF-S NIKKOR 200-400mm f/4G ED VR II
AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G

That's probably what I would go for, however if allowed a dedicated telephoto lens too, it would be:
AF-S NIKKOR 400mm f/2.8G ED VR
 
5D MkII
EF 100mm f/2.8 L IS
EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L
EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS
Use the 24-70 and 70-200 for portrait work

That's what I am using at the moment anyway, and I have no reason to change anything, other than possibly add a 17-40 as an additional walkabout for the extra width.

So far no one makes a body I'm 100% happy to part with my money for so I'm waiting and hoping that someone brings out what I want over the next year or two, deffo before my current camera dies anyway.

What I want...

In body IS, especially as the lenses I use most simply are not available with IS.
Built in flash.
Good ISO performance at both low and higher settings.
Articulated screen.
 
If money is no object then I'd get a hassleblad medium format digital and a burly assistant to carry it round for me :)

Failing that the sony alpha 900 and a raft of sony G glass or tamron. Got a decent macro/portrait already. I'd probably get more use out of the a900 as I wouldn't need to be built like a gorilla to operate it. If they do a full frame SLT then I'd get one of those.
 
Looks like there are a lot of people got the kit they want already! Must be nice to be in that position with a hobby. I have no doubt it is more a case of building up over time.

I can see this being quite addictive!

D3s (bit of a no brainer really!)

Don't do much macro but I guess the 105/2.8g

Walkabout would be 50/1.4g

If i really had to get a zoom it would be the 24-70/2.8g (would I be allowed to put it on ebay?)

Portrait would be 85/1.4g (another no brainer!)
 
I would probably go for:-
body - 7D or 1DIV
Macro - Sigma 150mm OS Macro
Walkabout - Sigma 50-500mm OS
Portrait - Canon 500mm F4
Zoom - Canon 70-200mm F2.8 IS II

portrait: 85mm F1.2L

Well I'd like a full frame camera with 1080p HD video recording ability so guess that's 5D MkII. Full frame isn't a necessity just easier to have when it comes wide angle lenses really. I don't do any macro work or have any need for a zoom lens at the moment so can't comment on that but for a walkabout lens I'd like the Canon 24-105 f/.4L IS and 50mm f1.2/1.4 for portrait (assuming I'm on full frame sensor).
