The opposite of the money no object lens thread.
What has been your best bargain lens?
What has been your best bargain lens?
The Tamron 17-50mm, a bit plasticky, but optically almost as good as lenses costing 4 or 5 times as much.
Ditto for my Tamron 28-75 2.8, champagne on beer money.
Do you rate it then? I bought one last week for a wedding I shot at the weekend. I didn't seem to get along with it, but maybe i didn't give it enough of a chance- was thinking of selling to get something else. Reckon I should give it another shot [scuse the pun..]

Tokina 28-70 f2.8.
Paid £40 and it had a Canon EOS5 attached to it and 2 flashguns in the bag it came in.
Obviously it's not my thread, but these aren't lenses.....Got to be the techfurb d3 for me!
But then the d90 has been left in the bag with only 3k shots!
I agree, got mine new a few years ago and I could not buy a used one now for that price.my 300 2.8...lots of money to buy but still a bargain
Yeah, there's some lovely old Pentax gear to be had for good prices, and it mostly works with their current DSLRs too.I have a couple of Asahi Pentax primes 35mm f3.5 (£25) and 50mm f1.4 (£49) and I'm really enjoying shooting with them. Nice and sharp, good DOF and they feel so nice and solid to focus. Might tempt me to have a bash with film.
Probably my Tamron 170-50mm that I picked up for £160 mint.
