Monitor Calibration

Yes
I'm currently running Win7 with 2 monitors, but one makes greyscale looks warm and sepia while the other makes greyscale look blue and cold.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a calibration tool so was wondering what people would recommend that:

a) works with Windows 7
b) will calibrate 2 monitors
c) isn't too expensive :)

Suggestions?

Cheers!

I had a huey pro on vista but when I upgraded to 64bit Win 7 I cannot get it to work. A warning as opposed to a suggestion. Others on here have had problems with spyder 2.

Eye One Display 2 - about £120-140.

Eye One Display 2. After getting it to work (doh!) its grand :)

Really? Mine does. :)

You just drag the application over to the monitor you wish to calibrate and tell it to go.

Hmm.. strange - in the reviews I read it says you can't!

I will have to investigate further...

I can confirm it definitely does.

It CANT calibrate 2 monitors hooked up to the same graphics card (so if you have 2 monitors working from the same processor.)

spyder 3 pro.

youll need a pci-e graphics card to calibrate the separate screens though.

:agree: One of the best £100 I have spent.

Unless the two monitors are identical though be prepared for a little frustration at first. I have a Dell 2408WFP (Wide Gamut) and a Dell 2001FP. Although both improved massively with calibration it is simply not possible for them both to be identical. The 2408WFP can simply display more colours better. My workflow is Lightroom main window on the 2001FP and the second screen configured as the Loupe.

It's weird how you get used to lots of screen real-estate. I have a 24" widescreen on my docking station at work and it feels really cramped in comparison.

Cheers all!

My 2 monitors are running off the same card, so the Eye One may not have worked.
I spotted Spyder 3 Pro in Jacobs for £89 so I went for that - monitors are much better now even if I did have to configure my Samsung manually.

Thanks again :)

Eye One here as well.
Kaouthia - The application runs and creates a profile, but can windows 7 manage ICC profiles on two devices? I know there's been a long standing limitation in Windows XP that only one display could be profiled.

It's a graphics card thing not a windows thing. Vista has the same "problem" as XP and 7, but it's down to the graphics card driver not being able to load multiple ICC profiles for each monitor, not a limitation of Windows itself (and all calibration devices are affected by this).

I'm using a 512Meg 9800GT dual head, and it has no problems.

I can confirm that it can, because I do it weekly (Nvidia 9800GT). As mentioned above, it depends on the graphics card and the drivers being used. :)

Eye One Display 2 won't work on multiple screens though

It will

you must ensure your monitors have different names then just switch the primary monitor designation to the other monitor, profile then switch back to normal.

that is how i do mine.

works fine
