Monitor calibration ?

Not really sure where this should go but figured that posting it here might get most replies...
I want to get a new monitor calibrator - from what I read it seems that the favourites are the Colormunki Display at roughly £115, the Spyder 3 elite at about £140 or the Eyeone Display 2 at around £150.

Anyone got any thoughts ?
I won't be printing anything at home, plan to be using Loxley for all that stuff..
 
I have the Spyder 4 express and I am very happy with it. I borrowed a Spyder 3 in the past and never used the profiles because they never looked right to me. The Spyder 4 looks to produce much better results. All of the Spyder 4's use the same sensor and its only the software that changes by model.

You can currently get 20% of Spyder 4's and I have posted the discount code in the Bargains forum. The Spyder 4 express cost me about £79 in shipping.

In the past I've used quite a few different callibrators. I think the ones I've been most happy with are the Eyeone Display 2 and my current Spyder 4 elite. To be honest I changed from the Eyeone Display 2 not because I was unhappy with it in any way its just I like to buy new things!!! :lol:
My current Spyder 4 is excellent I have 2 Dell IPS monitors and they are as close a match now as they have ever been.

Have you still got your old Eyeone ?
If so, how about posting a thread in the classifieds right now as you may have a buyer - That said I need to get one in the next day or two so you'll need to be quick....!

I had a meet with the guy's who do Colormunki and they prefered it over Spider 4. It goes through more colours during set up and has calibrated my screen really well. However it's the 1st Ihave ever used so can't compare with other units.
 
I can recommend Xrite i1Display monitor calibrator, Real easy to use although a little more expensive than your cheapest monitor calibrators. I was amazed at how well it calibrated my Dell 22inch monitor my computer setting where way out when reviewed my photographs, like you i only use it for processing them with loxely.
 
Ive had a Spyder 2 Express for a few years but was never really that happy with it. colours were fine but it doesn't adjust for brightness so i still got variable results.
I recently got a Spyder 4 Pro and its much better. It will measure the room lighting and get you to adjust so the brightness of the monitor to what it thinks will give you the optimum result. On my Dell IPS colours and overall look is much nicer than before.
 
A quick update - I ended up ordering a Colormunki Display yesterday from WEX, in part as they could get it to me by the following day.
I rang to confirm that they would deliver to an address that is not my billing address and spoke to a wonderfully helpful and charming lady having already had some online product help from one of their 'live chat' guys, and this morning, about 18 hours after placing my order it has arrived !
So, a big thumbs up for WEX, and many thanks to all of you who gave help and advice !
 
I've got the Pantone Huey Pro which worked great for ages. I got a new IPS monitor and use the other one as a second display and now it makes the screen horrific. Even tried with just one screen and various combinations but it just won't work anymore so don't use it. The colour output on the new monitor looks accurate enough for me so no great loss.

I had an even older model - the Huey non-pro or whatever it was called - I only recently noticed that it was for CRT monitors when I went to use it for the first time in ages, hence me wanting a new one - I wonder if you have the same problem...?

Just a thought - if anyone here still uses a CRT screen and wants my old calibrator then let me know !
This is not me trying to sell outside the classifieds - I'll post it off free to anyone who wants it but would appreciate it if a couple of pounds are put into a charity box of your choosing. If no-one claims it here then I may put an ad in the classifieds and then may even put a price on it !
