After years of excellent performance, my Pantone Huey Pro has given up the ghost and I need to replace it. I'm running a dual monitor setup on a win7 64 bit machine and GeForce GT520 graphics card.


What would people recommend without spending too much over £100?

I've now got a X-Rite i1 Display Pro LCD Monitor Colour Calibrator which I use for 2 monitors. It has dummy and advanced modes. I am well impressed with the results using the dummy mode. It cost £160 but worth it imho.
 
I bought the colormunki display a few weeks ago & i think it does a good job.:)
 
I'm investigating replacing my Pantone Huey soon, and from reading some of the reviews it looks like the Colormunki Display is the best for the money.
I can't post the link right now, but search for the review on "northlight images" website.
Calumet currently have it at the best price.
 
Just one small problem with colormunki display (Well, actually Microsoft problem lol) is that you need to use older ICC profile version (Version 2) and not (version 4) for Windows Photo Viewer to display photos correctly. Only Windows Photo Viewer affected by it, all other softwares works perfect on both versions of ICC profiles.

Windows Photo Viewer on ICC version 4 displays very very very underexposed images.

Also I do print a lot with Epson Stylus Pro 4900 (wide format) and colours are very very close to screen.
 
Correct. This crops up from time to time. This is only a problem with Windows Photo Viewer (not the Photo viewer as part of Windows 8... but the old one in Windows 7 and previous). It doesn't play nice with version 4 ICC profiles. Your images will look darker and more contrasty if you use a V4 profile with Windows Photo Viewer.

This is a windows photo viewer problem and not a color muni problem.... So no mater what you are using to calibrate, check you are using v2 profiles. If your calibrator is v4 capable, ensure you don't use it unless you have no interest in windows photo viewer.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll most likely go with the Colormunki Display. I use FastPictureViewer as my default image viewer, and LR / PS Elements for editing so hopefully I won't have the problems described above.

I forgot to mention that I'm using Windows7 :) And like I said it Microsoft problem and not ColorMunki. Great little device :)
